Two-year restrictions for international athletes who leave after winning the IPL.

A player from outside the United States who does n't register for the mega auction will not be able to register for the following mini auction.

International players who are forced to miss an IPL period after being purchased at an auction without having genuine causes will now face two-year suspensions. That aside, international players ' bid cost keywords will be the "lower of the highest loyalty price"- of INR 18 million ( US$ 2.1 million estimate. ) - or" the highest bid price at the big auction".

As reported by ESPNcricinfo in August, the demand to operate against people opting out after being bought at bids had come from all ten IPL companies during their appointment with the IPL controlling government in July. Disgruntled at their intentions being thrown into disarray by later pullouts by outside players, the businesses asked IPL to put in solid impediments.

The IPL stated in a file shared with companies that "any player who registers for an ] bidding and makes himself absent before the start of the season will be prohibited from participating in the IPL/IPL bid for two times." The only exception, the governing council said, will be for" an injury/medical condition, which will have to be confirmed by the]player's ] home board".

' Maximum payment' for international players at small auctions

The franchises ' idea that overseas players be required to file for big auctions has also been accepted by the IPL. This, they argued, will stop players and their agents from trying to earn great money during the mini auctions, where teams are often willing to shell out large sums to connect certain holes in their squads.

This was in information at the last Tournament bid. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR ), who went on to win IPL 2024, and runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH) set auction records to acquire the services of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins respectively. Cummins was sold for an auction-high Rs 20.50 million ( USD 2.47 million estimate. at the time ) early on in the bidding process, and Starc later went to KKR for INR 24.75 crore ( USD 2.98 million approx. at the time ) to set a new report.

To store that, the IPL has devised a mini plan. First, if a player from outside the United States does not participate in the previous big auction, they will not be able to file for a mini auction. " The great auction will require registration for any foreign players." The player will have to miss the following small auction if he does n't register. Only exception will be in case of an injury/medical condition which will have to be confirmed by the]player's ] home board before the big auction".

The IPL has also made the decision to mandate a "maximum fee" for international people participating in small auctions.

" Any international player's auction fee at smaller auction may be lower of the highest retention price]of INR 18 crore ] or the highest bidding price at the great bid", the IPL said in the report. " In case the highest auction price at big auction is 20 crs]INR 20 crore], then 18 crs]INR 18 crore ] will be the cap. If the highest auction price at big auction is 16 crs]INR 16 crore ] then the cap will be 16 crs]INR 16 crore].

The rule in place going forward is that the auction for the player will continue as normal till the player is sold, and the final auction amount will be charged to the auction purse. The incremental amount over INR 16 or 18 crore, as the case may be, will be deposited with BCCI. The additional funds put toward the welfare of players when they are deposited with BCCI.
