Shweta Sehrawat, Priya Punia among second pulls in the four-team annual children's DPL
Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Ayush Badoni and Harshit Rana were among the key picks at the player draft of the inaugural Delhi Premier League ( DPL) on Friday. 270 people from across Delhi were drafted, including those who represented India's older, under-19, and IPL teams. A notable absentee in the player review was fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who impressed with his speed for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 but was ruled out due to injury.
While North Delhi Strikers selected Rana in and Badoni was the first pull for South Delhi Superstars, Purani Dilli 6 selected Pant and Ishant. Past India Under-19 captain Yash Dhull and legspinner Prince Choudhary were both selected by the Central Delhi Kings.
Rana returned 19 wickets in 13 games of IPL 2024, representing title-winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR ). He even received his lady call-up for the ODI set on India's journey of Sri Lanka. In addition to Rana, the North Delhi Strikers also selected Kshitiz Sharma, the all-rounder that the Chennai Super Kings ( CSK) selected in the auction prior to the IPL 2018 and KKR spinner Suyash Sharma, who was Delhi's leading wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.
Pant and Ishant away, Purani Dilli 6 even drafted in offspin-allrounder Lalit Yadav, who played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, batting allrounder Shivam Sharma and right-arm fast bowler Prince Yadav.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Anuj Rawat and CSK fast bowler Simarjeet Singh were the first handful of pulls for East Delhi Riders. Strong bowling Navdeep Saini and past Mumbai Indians spin Hrithik Shokeen were the first two pulls for West Delhi Lions. South Delhi Superstars selected Priyansh Arya, who was Delhi's top run-scorer last year, with the addition of left-arm strong bowling Kuldip Yadav as their next pull. Kuldip made his Tournament debut in 2023 for Rajasthan Royals
Sehrawat leads the pick for people
Batter Shweta Sehrawat, who was India's vice-captain in the annual Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup early last season, was the best pick for South Delhi Superstars while opening Priya Punia, who made her International return this year in Bangladesh, will perform for East Delhi Riders.
Wicketkeeper Laxmi Yadav, who was with UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League ( WPL), was drafted by Central Delhi Queens while hard-hitter Ayushi Soni and seamer Soni Yadav were picked by North Delhi Strikers.
The best four bids for teams in the people's brand bid likewise secured the clubs for the children's DPL.
All games will be played at New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 17 through to September 8, 2024. The men's opposition may consist of 33 activities while the women's competitors will have seven games.
