Markram: ' It hurts rather a bit', but ' extremely proud of this team of people '

The captain of South Africa thought that winning the T20 World Cup demonstrated their "worthy winners" by coming as near as they did.

As several balls are involved in thirty goes. From the conclusion of a journey of innumerable heartaches, South Africa was left with its first World Cup triumph. ESPNcricinfo's Forecaster gave them a 96.65 % chance of winning and lifting the T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval.

India's one of the most serious T20 comebacks in the history of the sport left South Africa with a feeling they've had to go through so many different international competitions. Their captain Aiden Markram, though, was glad of their work, and a promotion that brought them eight gets on the swing before Saturday's battle.

" I think it'll take some time for us to have a really good representation on a really good strategy that we've had", Markram said at the post- meet display. " Clearly for the time being, it hurts quite a bit, but having said that, however very glad of this group of people and all that's involved in this team".

South Africa started the match by keeping India at 176 for 7, which Markram described as a chaseable entire after losing the lob. Their batters could n't quite finish the job on the day, but Markram did n't hold it against them.

" Yeah, I thought they]South Africa's bowlers ] bowled well", he said. " Do n't think there was a hell of a lot to work with, with regards to the pitch, so thought they did well to restrict them to what we thought was a chaseable total, and I thought we batted really well as well, and]it ] came down to the wire.

" A really good sport of cricket, but on all sides, actually chuffed with the people today. No great to]not ] get over the line, but very glad of this group of people that we've got going around in our whitened- ball squad."

Although South Africa entered the final with a great history, many of their victories, including those against Associate Nations like the Netherlands, Nepal, and the USA, came at the conclusion of intense competition. Markram suggested that this practice meant South Africa always felt relaxed yet when they were in seeming command of the last.

" We've seen with a lot of our activities in this battle that it's not really over until the final basketball is bowled, but we never got secure. There's always that factor of scoreboard pressure, and particularly at the back finish, things happen fast and can change very fast as well.

" But having said that, we got into a great location, which proves that we were capable winners and could have won the game now. However did n't, but also very glad of the group".

In the end South Africa the cricket team were left nursing a comfortable sense of pain, which has always had the landscape of the world's complex story, as referenced in this ESPNcricinfo content by Firdose Mooda. They do n't know what we know, as Ian Bishop once said in this article, and Markram hoped South Africa would be able to take comfort from that sentiment.

" Yeah, hopefully ]it sets us up ] in a really good way", Markram said. " One thing that's guaranteed about a North African, wherever they are in the world is, they're a truly dynamic people, a really respectful man, and a person that will come down with a struggle. That's one thing that makes us as a group proud. Maybe moving forward we can bring a bit from those few things and you keep putting the talent part of the sport to good use. It's still a proud moment for us".
