For the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, England has named Freya Kemp and Bess Heath in their 15-player club. Danielle Gibson is also selected for her first World Cup, to be played in the UAE in October, but there was no place was quickly bowling Lauren Filer.

Allrounder Kemp and back-up bowler Marsh may also take part in next week's white-ball journey to Ireland, where Kate Cross did captain a team then missing England's World Cup players. The three Batsmen and two T20Is may see a number of internationals, with seven unrestricted players across both teams.

England's preparing for the T20 World Cup has been careful over the last 18 weeks and the team selected contained some surprises, bar the absence of Filer. In the summer, Sophie Dunkley was called back after being placed ahead of Tammy Beaumont, who led Welsh Fire to the Hundred last and is now a member of both battalions when they face Ireland.

Linsey Smith, who returned to the T20I part for the first time since 2019 earlier this year, is included as the back-up spin to the group of Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn. However, the flexibility offered by Kemp, who lately returned to ball after injuries, and Gibson as seam-bowling allrounders means England opted against taking the more pace of Filer- although she will meet the team in their training camp in Abu Dhabi before the tournament.

The T20I team to visit Ireland includes left-arm seamer Mahika Gaur, who was unable to press harder for World Cup choice as a result of a combination of injuries and school commitments.

The Women's T20 World Cup had been expected to be staged in Bangladesh but the ICC took the decision to move the game last week after a time of legal turmoil in the country.

" Selecting groups and teams with this group of participants has become very difficult and tough", England's mind coach, Jon Lewis, said. " There are people who have been really terrible to lose out and they'll become a major part of what we do with England Cricket in the future.

" I feel the 15 players selected give us a truly well balanced club in terms of knowledge, youth and most notably the skills to manage and flourish in the conditions we feel we will be faced with in the UAE."

England's captain, Heather Knight, added:" World Cups are always special events to be involved in as a player and I'm really excited by the squad we have selected to take over to the UAE. It's an honour to lead the team into another World Cup. We're looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead."

Cross had conceded that she was unlikely to force her way into England's World Cup thinking and will instead captain England for the first time after a career in which she has won 91 caps across formats.

She will be joined in the party for Ireland by Beaumont, Issy Wong and Mady Villiers, who last featured for England in 2021. Georgia Adams, Hannah Baker, Georgia Davis, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Charis Pavely, Paige Scholfield and Seren Smale could all win their first caps.

Instead of the Gloucestershire seamer, Jon Lewis, who currently oversees the England A team, will be coaching them. Courtney Winfield-Hill and Chris Liddle will also be present.
