In a low-scoring movie against Zimbabwe in Harare, Shubman Gill's first match as India's captain did not go as planned. A team full of people trying to transition from the Cricket to international cricket was found to be uninspired.

Many of the people on this journey have n't had a lot of new cricket behind them, and Gill, at the article- match display, suggested that played a part in their death. " I think we bowled really well but I think we left ourselves down with the pitching. We were n't up to our standards and I think everybody looked rusty".

Even a factor was the problems. The pitch was so slow even after the stop that Harare offered backward movement for the fresh ball, making it difficult to play through the line and over the best shots like these batters had been doing in the IPL. Five of India's leading six scored in the single-digits, and four of those attempted to set the tone.

Gill, who best- scored with 31 off 29 balloons, said that his education to the team between pitches was to bird generally. " Actually, just take your time, like the bat. Not too many runs on the table. So not much pressure but it was n't the way]the match ] panned out.

" Halfway down, we had lost five wickets and it would have been best for us if I had stayed there to the end but unfortunately that did n't happen. Pretty disappointed with the way I got out and the approach this whole match turned out."

India had a chance right away with a couple of visits from Avesh Khan, which reduced the total to 18 balloons. However, Gill was aware that those were long odds because they only had two innings available at the time.

" Surely there was a bit of trust for us, "he said". But you know when you are chasing 115 and you want your No. 10 dough to be out that, anything has gone wrong."

With Sunday's next game of this five-match set coming up, India has a chance to make up the floor they've lost.
