Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks ' star player, broke her kept side during training, which required surgery, the team announced Tuesday.
The Mavericks did n't provide further details of Irving's injury or his timeline to return. He's not known how he got hurt, or what particular tooth or bones were broken in his hand.
" He sustained the wound earlier this month while training", the team's speech reads. " More medical updates on Irving's rank may be provided as appropriate".
The Mavericks ' NBA Finals Game 5 defeat to the Boston Celtics was the end of the Mavericks ' season on June 17. The schedule for the upcoming season has n't been released. Training camp usually starts in early October and the regular period a few weeks later. The Mavericks did n't provide clarity on whether Irving is expected back in time to start the regular season.
An eight-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA choice, Irving, alongside MVP winner Luka Dončić, helped guide the Pacers to their first Championships appearance since they won the NBA title in 2011. In his first full season in Dallas, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, five rebounds and 1.3 steals in 58 regular-season games while shooting 49.7 % from the field and 41.1 % from 3-point distance.
