On Tuesday, Jaxson Hayes sprained his left knee during exercise, and he will need to spend up to two weeks recovering.
For at least the next few games, the Los Angeles Lakers wo n't have center Jaxson Hayes.
Hayes sustained a kept ankle sprain in training Tuesday and will lose Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the team said. Hayes may be reevaluated in one to two months.
The Lakers ' most recent center-related injuries is related to the wound. Anthony Davis was poked in the eye on Sunday in their 121-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors while Christian Wood is also recovering from hip surgery from the winter. Davis left that game first and was cleared to play Wednesday evening, though it was the same attention in which he sustained a corneal abrasion half last year.
Hayes ' next season with the Lakers, which included his first four months with the New Orleans Pelicans, has produced 6.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season. The 24-year-old had a season-high 12 positions and six touchdowns in Sunday's get over the Birds, too. Down the stretch of that battle because of Davis ' eye damage, Hassey replaced him.
Wood wo n't be back anytime soon for the Lakers, either. Wood underwent an surgical procedure on his left leg in September to resolve a leg matter that was bothering him at the end of next year. Wood will now be out for at least another quarter because he has started to feel sore in his knees recently.
The only other centre on the Lakers ' squad other than Davis, who was given a medical clearance by the group after missing the entire 2013 time with a blood clot. This time, he appeared in two activities for the Lakers, and one for their advertising in the G League.
The Lakers enter Wednesday night's activity with a 6-4 history, and they're coming off back-to-back win. The San Antonio Spurs will host them on Friday to begin the NBA Cup, which began on Tuesday across the entire division.
