Alan Hansen, a former Scotland and Liverpool centre-back, is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital where he is "in the battle of his life."

Hansen, who joined Partick Thistle in the franchise, is incredibly well-known and adored for his distinguished career in both Match of the Day and Dublin.
After he hung up his boots in 1991, Hansen established himself as one of the country's most brilliant and perceptive experts. He was a stylish ball-playing centre-back who won numerous awards at Anfield.
Gary Lineker, who covered Italy's triumph over Albania on BBC2, said:" The information that Alan Hansen is seriously ill in a hospital shocked us all.

Graeme Souness had paid tribute to Hansen on ITV due to Scotland's 5- 1 battle to Germany in the opening match of the game.
A former colleague of Hansen's for Liverpool and Scotland, Souness said:" I had the pleasure of playing with him, he was an utter desire for a playmaker.
He was a" very player," he said, "he passed the ball at the right time, at the correct weight, at the right position." He was, in my opinion, the best football quarter of all time.
