Imagine if your professional career was terminated, but you only had the opportunity to play in the European region leagues a year later.
Max Kruse represented Germany at the 2021 Olympics and played top-flight sport for Wolfsburg until 2022.
But at age 36, the 14-cap past total worldwide is then plying his business down in the European local tournaments, representing Kreisliga A area BSV Al-Dersimspor II.
For those no intimately acquainted with the European football tower, that's Step 9 of the European group. The equivalent of the English Counties League Premier Divisions, is where the loves of Tadcaster Albion, West Didsbury & Chorlton, Barnstaple Town and Tooting & Mitcham enjoy.
Max Kruse retired from playing sports professionally.
Kruse was a famous top-level striker throughout his Bundesliga job, reaching twice images for Freiburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Werder Bremen and Union Berlin.
The goalkeeper was chosen to be in the 2016 Mannschaft's in-form type alongside the likes of Manuel Neuer, Mesut Ozil, and Thomas Muller, but was a little unhappy not to have made the triumphant 2014 World Cup squad a decade ago.
Kruse appears to be enjoying playing outside the light now that he can look back on his professional playing job with pride.
Kruse made his way back to Wolfsburg in January 2022, scoring seven goals in 14 games to keep them from falling into the red in January 2022, before leaving later that month.
Kruse announced his retirement from professional sports last year after a brief stint with Paderborn's second-tier team.
Since 2014, Kruse has often appeared at big-money casino games around the world and currently co-hosts a podcast with previous Werder Bremen teammate Martin Harnik.
