With a surprisingly minor knee injury he sustained in Game 2, Christaps Porzingis missed two matches in the NBA Finals.
After a "rare" injury kept him out of two matches in Boston's NBA Finals work, Celtics core Kristaps Porziņģis is headed for operation.
Porziņģis returned to the court on Monday night to help the Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 106- 88 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, which earned them their initial final since 2008 and the show's 18th nevertheless. He told ESPN after the gain that he'll have operation in the near future, and that he'll spent a "few times" recovering. That may keep plenty of time for Porziņģis to get ready for the start of next year.
Porziņģis went down with a lateral tibialis displacement in his left knee after an awkward incident with Maverick core Dereck Lively II as they were boxing out during a free throw in Game 2 of the line.
Porziņģis struggled limping up the court after the incident, and he was pulled from the sport first. The team described the wound, which was split from the ankle injury that kept him out of the past two shells of the finals, as "rare".
Porziņģis came off the couch Monday in the 18- level win at TD Garden. He had five factors and one rise in 16 days.
Porziis responded to ESPN's request to know if he was concerned about reinjuring his leg in the game by saying," I think something could have happened, for sure, especially compensating now on the other leg now, which I just came back from." " There was definitely some added risk, but I did n't care. I was like,' I want to offer anything I can and then resolve it after if I need to.'"
Then, Porziņģis can do just that.
Porziis made a three-way cope with the Washington Wizards last summer and finished with a season-high 20 points and 7.2 touchdowns per game for the Celtics. The 28- yr- ancient will provide the first year of a two- yr,$ 60 million deal with the franchise this fall.
Though his summers and looming event after winning the final may be a little dampened with his impending surgery, Porziņģis is n't bothered by that one touch. After all, he's got his band.
" I do n't care", Porziņģis said. " I will repair it. This is the most significant, and after my damage recovery and all that, it's absolutely worth it".
