The team announced on Saturday that Ottis Gibson did keep Yorkshire when his contract expires at the end of the current year.

Gibson joined the club in early 2022 on a three-year deal after Andrew Gale, his father, was sacked during the fall-out that followed Azeem Rafiq's claims of administrative prejudice at the pub.

Yorkshire paid tribute to Gibson's" full expertise" during" the most difficult time of Yorkshire's story" in a speech. Effects on the pitch have been a mixed bag but they are in the chase for development this time, sitting next in Division Two of the County Championship with five fits still to play.

" The team is in a solid place in the County Championship, contending for development to the first place, and all players and coaches are tightly focused on that goal," said Yorkshire. " Ottis goes with everybody's best intentions and everyone at the pub wishes him well in his future job".

Yorkshire claimed to have begun the search for a replacement and that Gibson's alternative would be confirmed "in expected training." The position has been linked to both Chris Silverwood and Darren Lehmann.

Gibson expressed his satisfaction with the state of the club, the development of our younger players, and the prospects for promotion that we may have faced despite the issues we have encountered off the field, which certainly poured onto the playing field. I wish Yorkshire the best of luck as we move forward and bless all of my employees, people, and supporters who have supported us during my time around.

Colin Graves, Yorkshire's head, said:" It's been an absolute pleasure to work with Ottis. Ottis has done a lot of amazing work in challenging circumstances, and he'll keep with his mind high after helping to lay some reliable foundations, which we are seeing through his performances this season. Everyone at the team would like to wish him all the best for the future".
