Uncontracted trio of Behrendorff, Agar and Tye also named, while Ellis and Meredith wo n't play for Tasmania next week
Lance Morris and Jhye Richardson, the rate combo that Cricket Australia signed, are scheduled to return to the national scene for white ball. Both batsmen have been named in Western Australia's 14-man club for their beginning One-Day Cup matches against New South Wales and South Australia, on Sunday and Tuesday, both, at Cricket Central in Sydney.
Since missing his first ODI game through a side strain in February, Morris has n't played cricket at any level since. The injury has ended his season. Routine imaging during the off-season showed a warm place in his rear despite not feeling any discomfort. Morris was ruled out of playing in the Major League Cricket, and was also not considered for Australia's limited-overs visit of the UK.
With WA naming six strong bowlers in their club, he will probably only perform one of the two 50-over games next week as a slow buildback to a red-ball return. That includes the uncontracted experienced combo Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye.
Richardson, however, did enjoy over the spring after coming off a scary operate of hamstring and shoulder injuries in subsequent seasons. He participated in the Top End T20 Set in Darwin in August by playing one game for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL and three games for the Perth Scorchers in the same month.
Richardson's returning to private 50-over cricket is a significant improvement, but it's not yet clear whether he will be fit plenty to play first-class cricket for the Sheffield Shield in October.
Uncontracted left-arm spin Ashton Agar has also been named in WA's club, alongside Behrendorff and Tye after even opting to become a freelance bowler.
Cameron Bancroft looks set to maintain innings for WA, with Josh Inglis ahead on federal work. Previous WA back-up wicketkeeper-batter and 50-over opening Josh Philippe is set to face his old area on Sunday for the first time after moving to New South Wales. Philippe was a crucial part of WA's hat-trick of One-Day Cup names, having played in all three and been Player of the Tournament in 2022-23.
WA are looking to become the first men's part in American One-Day home record to say four consecutive titles, even as they have won five of the last seven.
Elsewhere, Nathan Ellis and Riley Meredith wo n't play in Tasmania's opening two One-Day Cup matches against Victoria and Queensland in Melbourne, on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.
Meredith just returned to Australia this week and is scheduled to undergo another test on the side he injured in the journey opener against Scotland, while Ellis is still recovering from the hamstring injuries that caused him to be sidelined from Australia's limited-overs trip of the UK. Ellis did not play in any of Australia's second four T20I games due to side pain before returning home, and his recovery period is still to be determined.
