Deandra Dottin is back in the West Indies club for the future children's T20 World Cup in the UAE two years after making an unexpected announcement of her pension. Dottin, the scoring of the fastest era in women's T20Is, made a rapid decision to quit while leading Barbados in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, citing a "non-conducive" culture within the West Indies set-up. She reversed that decision next month, with one eye on the forthcoming World Cup.

Cricket West Indies ( CWI ) announced her on Thursday, and the 15-member squad also includes an uncapped player named Nerissa Crafton.

" We have a nice combination of expertise and youth", Kishore Shallow, the CWI senator, said after the news. " We have some players bordering]on ] 19, I think Zaida]James ] is still probably a teenager and one or two of the young players there. But, really happy with the mixture.

" Moreover, I think, we all as West Indians are excited to see Deandra Dottin again. It has been a time of connection- back and forth- with Deandra, and I particularly want to accept the presence of Ann Browne-John who has led those discussions over the last year, even when she was n't publicly the selection. She was important in Deandra coming out of pension."

Dottin's current form is particularly stimulating: she was the third-highest run-getter in WCPL 2024 division cycle, with 113 operates in four innings at an average of 28.25 and hit level of 111.88. In the WCPL season that preceded the last, she was the only batter to reach more than two sixes. At Brian Lara Cricket Academy, her 53 balloons against the Guyana Amazon Warriors propelled a Super-Over. In the Super Over, Dottin returned to bats, opening the scoring for the victory of Trinbago Knight Riders, with a 13-of-44 strike.

When Dottin had announced her retirement in August 2022 at age 31, she had played 127 T20Is ( alongside 143 OD Is ) for 2697 runs and 62 wickets. In 2010, she broke the record for the fastest 100 in a T20 World Cup, which was a report for both men's and women's cricket, and she then smashed 112 off 45 balloons in St Kitts against South Africa.

Before taking over Trinbago at the ongoing WCPL, she had never played dynamic cricket since September 2023 when she retired. She had since returned to the T20 loop.

Hayley Matthews will take over as the West Indies ' head coach, Shermaine Campbelle may take over as their assistant, and the rest will be the same. The team has been outstanding in T20I cricket leading into this World Cup, they travelled to Pakistan in April-May and won 4-1, before going to Sri Lanka and taking the line 2-1.

The World Cup XV made four shifts from that squad, and that was their past task. There was no place for Cherry-Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Rashada Williams and Soon Wilmott. They made means for Ashmini Munisar, Dottin, Mandy Mangru and Crafton. Mangru has only played one T20I match and is unlimited in T20I cricket.

West Indies begin their World Cup campaign on October 4 in Dubai against South Africa, and then have the remainder of their Group B activities lined up against Scotland, Bangladesh and England. The group's leading two groups may advance to the semi-finals. The ultimate is scheduled for October 20.
