A multi-format offer will bring an Asian bowler back to the state for the 2025 period.
Wes Agar has been forced to cut short his 2024 winter at Kent after sustaining a head injuries in their County Championship suit against Worcestershire in the second month of May.
Though Agar recovered properly enough to play against Essex at the end of next month, the decision has been taken for the fast bowler to return to Australia to promote a full recovery. Agar, who won two International cap, was actually scheduled to be in Canterbury until the end of July to take part in both the County Championship and the Vitality Blast. He departs despite not having participated in the latter this summertime.
Agar's assurance that he would return for the 2025 time, once more in an all-format offer starting from April to July, was lessening the South Australian's loss, subject to regulatory acceptance. Garracked up 12 County Championship innings this winter at 34.25, surpassing Matt Quinn's 21 at 28.33 in his first year at the team, which saw him finish the season as their joint-leading wicket-taker.
Agar stated in a speech on Tuesday that he is "excited to become returning to my "home away from home" once more next time. " I feel totally part of the Kent Cricket Family nowadays- it's a great Team full of great folks on and off the field and the determination to hint on again for another English summer was an easy one to make. In 2025, I'm eager to put on that Kent shirt once more and perform in front of our members and supporters.
" I'm devastated that I'm leaving the lads this morning, but I've absolutely loved my time in Canterbury this year. See you all in April!"
Kent's Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said:" Wes is a talented multi- format cricketer and a very popular member of our dressing room- we're extremely pleased that he will be joining us again next Summer.
We're looking forward to seeing him play a significant role in our attack at the beginning of our 2025 season because of his ethos and work ethic. It's sad to see him leave early with his shoulder injury, but we know that he will come back with the same enthusiasm to perform at his best in a Kent shirt next year".
Agar's recovery will be with a view to playing a full part in South Australia's Sheffield Shield campaign. After leaving Adelaide Strikers for the BBL after eight seasons as the first player to be traded as part of a pick exchange in the overseas draft, he will now play for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.
