Smith played cricket for the Washington Freedom in the Major League Cup this July after being cut from Australia's T20 World Cup squad over the spring.
However, Labuschagne will transfer to Heat, the reigning champions and his long-term BBL company, after India's Australia trip concludes on January 7.
