In their T20I and International series against Australia starting next month, Marcos Trescothick will be England's interim head coach. However, he has not yet decided whether he wants to get considered for a long-term position in the white ball position.

Trescothick, one of England's assistant instructors, is working with the Test team during their series against Sri Lanka and will keep the team during the second Test at The Oval. He will next link up with the white-ball squads- which are expected to be announced future week- at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton ahead of the primary T20I on September 11.

" It's not something I'd always thought about before, until I got this prospect now", Trescothick said. I need n't think much further in the direction of the series ' conclusion in Australia. I've been pretty much focused on the job we're doing these ]with the Test team].

" You plan your spring: we're off to Pakistan, next New Zealand. I'm so entrenched in that at the moment, I've never really sat down and said,' correctly, this is where I'll attempt to move, this is what I'll attempt to do'. I'm looking forward to the prospect, for certain. I'm definitely looking forward to the task. We'll function it out a little bit more from that."

Trescothick has expressed an interest in obtaining a head coaching position despite not having formerly done so. He spent 18 months as an assistant coach at Somerset after his retirement as a player in late 2019, and has been involved in England's employees since first 2021.

He may participate in selection and has a long-standing friendship with Somerset native Jos Buttler, who has kept the white-ball skipper. After being sidelined for the Hundred with a ankle injury, Buttler made a complete recovery and will play for Lancashire in their T20 Blast quarter-final against Sussex on September 4.

England's T20I series against Australia starts 24 hours after the scheduled shut of sing on the second day of their third and final Check against Sri Lanka, necessitating individual squads- though Jordan Cox may be included in the T20I crew if he is not required at The Oval". They have a busy schedule," Trescothick said". The two series very closely overlap."

The ECB has not yet officially advertised the white-ball position that Matthew Mott's dismissal left open, but Trescothick could make a strong contender if England and Australia play well together. Although Kumar Sangakkara is regarded as the "early favorite," he has n't confirmed or refuted his decision to apply.

Andrew Flintoff, whose Northern Superchargers team missed out on the Hundred's knockout stages on net run rate in his first role as head coach, could also be a contender. But he will not reprise his recent role in England's coaching staff against Australia, with the Telegraph reporting on Thursday that he has not" gelled" with Buttler.
