As an uneducated team faces a challenge from Pakistan, strategic captain will be the hardest to replicate.
England have only had a brief look at a fully-fitting Ben Stokes for three years, but he has since signed a new key agreement, which is anticipated to include the Ashes tour in 2025-26. Harrison declined to describe the length of his new contract on Saturday, but it is understood to be a two-year offer.

But England are just as knowledgeable of Stokes ' value to their Test team, not only as a player but as a president and leader for Brendon McCullum's program.

Pope kept wicket in the first two Testing of the 2022 line, and is one of six people in England's XI who was ever-present in that line. Brydon Carse makes his debut, and Jack Leach is the only bowling to have ever struck a red ball in Pakistan. Pope cannot merely rely on how effectively his invasion operates.
To avoid the 40-degree heat on the barrier top, Stokes said," There are no questions in my mind about the batsmen we have chosen." They are certain that they may resist it, they say. We know it is going to be difficult, but it will be tremendous exposure for the first time for them … It will show them how hard Test cricket can be".
As England's third Test slipped aside from England, Pope was very slow to adapt and react in the wake of Stokes ' attempt to set attacking fields against Sri Lanka. He seemed to have Stokes ' ability to grasp opportunities to change the speed or feeling of an innings in the field, if may have learned many from his first experience of the role.
Stokes will be on hands throughout to switch any guidance, while James Anderson- who got the ball reversing in Multan two years ago- will appear on the next day. " He has seen what may work out around", Stokes said. I'm certain that I'll like to talk to him at some point, but only if I believe it is important. I do n't want to say things for the sake of it.
It was about attempting to advance the activity in the face of the circumstances in which we were. We were constantly trying to do something to push a result, even if it means possible giving Pakistan a sniff of winning the game … me and Brendon may promote Ollie to affect the game himself, and make sure that comes across in his captaincy."
England's players were interested in seeing a lot of grass on the Test strip two days after Shan Masood's public desire for surfaces that suit his seamers. Pakistan are a better side than recent results suggest, not least when Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah are involved, and England will not take them lightly.
England's clean sweep in Pakistan remains their best series result under Stokes and McCullum, and was arguably the regime's high point, with a 10-8 win-loss record in the past two years. A repeat of this tour might outweigh the loss of Stokes, at least for the first Test.
