Says he envisions playing the T20 file for more time than the other two.
Even though he has no retirement plans in mind, Steven Smith has the possibility of attempting to represent Australia at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. T20 is a format he probably plays more than others.
Smith did play specialized cricket until at least 2026-27 because he has a new three-year offer with the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. He would need to be resurrected in Australia's T20 team if he were to be reasonable about the Olympics the next year despite being omitted from this year's T20 World Cup.
" I could still be playing T20 cricket in four decades, so you never know", he said. " It's a structure I can see myself playing perhaps for a lot longer than some of the others, particularly with the company products around the world. It's just another season after I've been logged in here after three years. It would be nice to be part of an Olympics".
However, Smith continues to be in the same situation with the various global forms. " I do n't have any plans", he said. " I'm really enjoying playing at the moment, I'm very peaceful and looking forward to this summers".
The future global schedule is more important to Smith in the near future. Before India's main event, he will return to action in the ODIs in England next month ( after being relegated to the T20Is ). Amid the speculation around whether he will be Australia's Test opening, Smith is relishing the possibility of facing India over a five-match line.
Although there has n't been much drama in the four-match contests in recent memory, this will be the first time the two teams have faced off in five tests since 1991-92. Australia are aiming to restore the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in ten years, having no beaten India since the 2014-15 series on home soil.
" You ca n't really hide in a five-Test series like you probably can in a two-match series for instance", Smith said. It can be difficult to come up from someone who has the wood on you. It's going to be a great line.
" We are perhaps the two best teams at the moment in Test cricket. We played the World Test Championship final last year and beat them there. They've been excellent out here the last couple of days, they've played truly great cricket, maybe we can turn the tables. It's been ten times since we last won the Border-Gavaskar prize therefore need to do that this time."
" I'm delighted to bat everywhere. Batting at four, I could be in after the first two balloons. I've experienced earlyness on numerous occasions and faced the fresh game.

Smith may start against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj if Australia maintain their current bat purchase as it has since David Warner's pensions in January. Smith, who has a chance to pass 10, 000 goes this summers, was elevated up the order when he told the candidates he was eager for the position. Cameron Green could even return at a more healthy No. 4 but effects were mingled for Smith across four Testing with 171 works at 28.50 although that included a great unbroken 91 against West Indies.
It is likely to be a theme that will occupy the next few months with Smith set to have some Sheffield Shield cricket before the India line.
" The discussions I've had so far is that we'll go to England … I'm there for the one-dayers, then make a decision after that, "he said". There's discussions happening in the background. You see some remarks that people like Usman]Khawaja] has said he likes me over at No. 4, think Marnus is of a related thought structure. We'll delay and observe. I'm glad to bat everywhere.
" For me, it's only a place. Batting at four, I could be in after the first two balloons. I've been in early on some events and faced the new game. For me, it's kind of only a range. We lost batsmen inside the first over, so I'll come out and score runs even though I batted at three for a long time. With the amount of fiddling around I have in the changing rooms, the only thing I had to get used to was how fast a turn it is when you come off the field with only ten minutes left.
