The original Australia fast has been in the state time capacity since beginning his career there.
Ryan Harris has been named South Australia's new people's mind coach, filling the role vacated by Jason Gillespie's exit earlier this year.
Harris, who began his playing career with the state, has been leading the men's project in an interim power over the last few months while the part was recruited for and will take over full-time instantly as pre-season stairs up.
It has yet to be confirmed who will become Adelaide Strikers ' BBL head coach ( Gillespie held both positions ) but it's understood splitting the job has become increasingly likely. Tim Paine has recently confirmed his involvement in the Workers ' part should that be the situation.
More than 20 years ago, Harris said," I'm thrilled and honored to be appointed Head Coach of South Australia." " Having worked closely with the team last summer and during our current pre-season training, I know what this squad is capable of and ca n't wait to get started and build on the positive steps we saw last year.
" Under fresh captain Nathan McSweeney, there is a true sense of self-belief among the cluster and we'll be working hard to ensure we hit the ground running with the fresh season quickly approaching."
South Australia finished second in the Sheffield Shield next year after a third position in 2022-23 which followed five consecutive wooden spoons. After reaching the Marsh Cup final the prior year, they were lower.
In the Sheffield Shield windows in October, there is a chance they will see more of tournaments Alex Carey and Travis Head.
After retiring, Harris moved into training with the Australia people's under-19 team at the 2018 and 2020 World Cups and has also worked in the IPL with Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. While Justin Langer was the people's team's coach, he also worked as a specialist.
In 2021 he was appointed Queensland Cricket's road boss. He applied to become head coach of Australia Women when Matthew Mott left, having had a short-term tenure as bowling coach on a journey of New Zealand in 2021, but was overlooked before returning to South Australia to get their ball coach.
