India captain says the strong bowling "had a swelling in his knee", which put him back in his treatment and pay to return to action
India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that top fast Mohammed Shami's returning to the global collapse may get further delayed after he suffered another "recent setback". According to Rohit, Shami, who had surgery on his proper Achilles tendon in February of this year, has now developed leg swelling that has "put him up a little bit in his recovery."
" Right now, it is very difficult for us to create a call on whether he will be fit for this line or the Australia line", Rohit said on the day of India's second Test against New Zealand, in Bengaluru. " He just had a loss- he had a swelling on his leg, which was quite unexpected.
He had a swelling in his leg while he was attempting to recover from his injury, which was about to happen. That put him back a little bit in his treatment, so he had to begin once new."
Shami's past international appearance was in the November World Cup final. He was India's highest wicket-taker with 24 innings in seven games at an average of 10.70 and hit rate of 12.20 at the game. He received needles to cure his knee while playing during the World Cup.
Shami would have been eligible for the five-match Australia line, which starts next month, had he undergone operation in London earlier this year, but his latest setback has worsened his situation. As things stand, Shami is currently working with the physios at the NCA, but Rohit added that India did n't want to risk sending him to Australia.
" Right now, he is at NCA- he is working with the physios, ]and ] the doctors at NCA," Rohit said". We are keeping our fingers crossed. We want him to get fit, we want him to be 100 %. More than anything else, we do n't want to bring an undercooked Shami to Australia. That is not going to get the correct choice for us."
Rohit also suggested that Shami would struggle to get right back into the swings if he had n't played international cricket for nearly a year.
" He has never played any cricket for over a time. It's difficult for a quick bowler to have missed so much of cricket before instantly resuming his game and performing at his best, according to Roto. It is not perfect. We will want to provide him sufficient time to recover, and get 100 % match.
" The physios, the trainers, ]and ] the doctors have set a roadmap for him. Before he plays foreign cricket, he is supposed to enjoy a few games. We will see where he is at after this New Zealand series, and then take a call at what stage of Australia ]series ] he will be fit for us".
In the current WTC pattern, India has eight Checks left. After three games against New Zealand, they may travel to Australia for five Testing starting on November 22.
