England wicketkeeper- batter Sam Billings has become the second player to signal for the BBL under the fresh multi- year contract option with a three- season deal for Sydney Thunder, committing to the competition away of foe T20 leagues in the UAE and South Africa.

Before moving to Brisbane Heat for his second season, Billings recently spent two months with the Thunder in 2020-21 and 2021-22. One of a group of foreign players who left the game early last year to sign a contract with the ILT20. The BBL's fresh multi-year solution aims to secure players for the period by providing them with safety.

When the SA20 kicks off in January, the BBL may start considerably, and the ILT20 will begin earlier in the season, adding to the already-acquired conflict.

In returning, under terms of signing a three- season deal, a player must undertake to the overall BBL including the finals from the 2025- 26 season, but Billings has gone a step further and will also be accessible throughout following season's edition.

" I love Sydney, especially Western Sydney, and the chance to return to a family club that is so enamored of its members, fans, and locals was too good of an opportunity to ignore," Billings said.

" On the field, we are putting together a really strong squad, and it was very appealing to work with such a capable coach as Trevor Bayliss."

The BBL is in a fantastic position these days because it is well-run, well-supported, and undoubtedly the best tournament ever held there. I have a long-term commitment to be here until the end of the tournament each year because of this.

Under new general manager Trent Copeland and former England coach Trevor Bayliss, who recently signed a one-year extension, the Thunder finished last in the BBL last season with just one win in ten games.

" The beauty of bringing a player the calibre of Sam Billings to the club is not just the elite skillset he brings to every facet of the game but also his leadership on and off the field," Copeland said.

Billings joins the Thunder for the second time in two days after the club signed highly-regarded young batter Sam Konstas for a two-year deal. Konstas, 18, made his New South Wales debut last year and made his Under-19 World Cup debut there last year. He made his debut there last year, making his debut there last year.

Amelia Kerr, the first New Zealand all-star to join the WBBL as she left Heat for the Sydney Sixers, is the first to sign a multi-year contract with the same multi-year contract structure.
