After winning six titles in six efforts, a fast bowler is set to leave Trent Bridge.
Luke Fletcher, Nottinghamshire's former hole bowling, is to leave the club at the end of the 2024 year after a 17-year occupation at Trent Bridge.
Fletcher, who turns 36 on Wednesday, has taken 442 first-class innings since making his Nottinghamshire album in 2008, as well as 93 Record A, and 108 T20 innings. After working his way through the age-group program at Trent Bridge, he was released again to club cricket at Papplewick and Linby- and actually worked on the gates at the club- before earning a regular starting spot in 2009.
He won two T20 Blast trophies in 2017 and 2020 and six titles in their respective divisions, earning him a cult following for his sincere take on the game at Trent Bridge.
" For a native boy to reflect this team is an dignity, and I never could have expected the job I've had," Fletcher said. " My overpowering experience today is how glad I am for all the years I've spent with Notts and the memories I have made along the way.
I've had the pleasure of dressing area with so many great people and developing lasting relationships with them because" a position is only as good as the people inside it."
" But it's also everyone around the pub- from the ticket company to the chefs, group teams, ground workers, dressing room attendants and so many more. I've been around for a long time, and everything has meant a lot to me.
" Whilst I am sad that my time at the club is done, I could n't be happier with everything I have achieved. Trent Bridge feels like residence, it usually has done, and it always did do. "
After taking 66 innings for an average of 14, Fletcher was named PCA County Championship Player of the Year in 2021. 9. Four years after receiving a potentially life-threatening injuries in 2017, he was hit in the head by a Sam Hain generate during a T20 game against the Birmingham Bears, for which he fully recovered.
He is one of only five people to have taken 100 T20 innings for Nottinghamshire, while his eight seventies for the team include two career-best values of 92.
" Luke is a hugely popular figure, and with good reason," Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire's chairman of cricket, said. He has played with a smile on his face, forged some friends, and given his heart and soul to this team.
Stuart Broad, who played with some of the greatest athletes of his century, said that Fletch is considered one of the "best team-mates you could ever have," which says a lot.
" He has been a member and supporter of his home county for almost 20 years, and it means a lot to him," he said," and that commitment has been reciprocated by people and followers."
His achievements and statistics should also be cited because he has put in a lot of effort to become the best he can get, which has paid dividends.
