After he admitted to breaking the international heart's anti-corruption code, the ICC has banned Sri Lanka's left-arm spin Praveen Jayawickrama from all cricket for a year, with the remainder of his six-month suspensions.
Jayawickrama was charged with two script violations in August. He has acknowledged breaking content 2.4.7, which states that he has "obtained or delayed any research that may be conducted by the ACU [anti-corruption unit], including concealing, tampering with, or destroying any documents or other details that may be related to that research and/or that may be proof or perhaps lead to the discovery of evidence of dishonest conduct under the Anti-Corruption Code."
The charges, according to an ICC release, relate to international cricket and the Lanka Premier League ( LPL).
Having made his international comeback in a Check against Bangladesh in April 2021, Jayawickrama has played five Checks, five Wickets and five T20Is. In 2022, he made his final appearance for Sri Lanka in a T20I line against Australia.
Jayawickrama played for the Jaffna Kings team that won its second title in LPL 2021. He played one match that year, taking two wickets. In LPL 2024, he turned out for Dambulla Sixers.
