Sri Lanka's interval coach Sanath Jayasuriya wants his team to overcome the criticism they received following their T20I set defeat to India in the tour's 50-overs leg.

Before the first international match in Colombo, Jayasuriya said," I tell them that I have also been at this spot during my 20 times as a player." " A lot of you have really started. You must be able to take criticism before coming out and playing well. Viewers will appreciate you if you perform properly. What they say to you is because of the damage they are feeling, and that's momentary.

The Sri Lankan team was putting in "huge initiatives" at education, according to Jayasuriya, and the bowling collapses they experienced in each of their three T20Is were merely a result of things not working out. In the second T20I, India advanced to the Super Over despite the hosts eventually cruising toward their 138-run goal after losing 7 for 27 two nights prior. In the first T20I, they lost 9 for 30 after setting themselves up for success at 140 for 1 in 14 innings while chasing 214.

Jayasuriya said it was n't a lack of expertise or commitment that led to the outbursts. He felt his people '" cricket knowledge "needed sharpening". He claimed that we had developed a system that allowed top-order pitchers to bird for two or three hours during training. During our education, Kamindu Mendis batted for more than 600 balloons. Kusal Perera batted for over 700 balloons and that's quite a number of overs.

" I do n't see a lack of commitment, but they have got to tackle pressure better. Their cricket attention even needs sharpening. We are taking the responsibility, you ca n't go away from that. As long as they realise that, and make sure that, we'll have to keep giving them the confidence and support".

Jayasuriya went further on the" cricket knowledge" point, citing how it was satisfactory to not play six-hit baseball.

" When you talk about power hitting, I do n't think you need that much", Jayasuriya said. The complete that you need is obtained when you hit sufficiently legs and twos. The]Sri Lankan ] grounds are a little bigger. There's no reason why you ca n't hit boundaries, or twos, or threes. You can get by without hitting but many touchdowns if you can do that.

Jayasuriya even backed new captain Charith Asalanka to appear great, while underlining the importance of giving him time to settle into the new role before being judged. Since his album in 2021, Asalanka has risen to become one of Sri Lanka's more constant ODI pitchers, averaging 43.59 with a strike price of about 90 across 52 pitches.

" Charith Asalanka is one of our best athletes in this style, and we need to consider that", Jayasuriya said. " But when you get the captain, there is some force. I've been there too. In that place, you must allow them a little time.

" There are ten more people in the area, and 16 in the club. We all have to get together and give him the confidence also. At any time, the captain had press. Charith Asalanka puts in a lot of effort. He's really professional and communicates nicely."

In the run-up to the ODI line, Sri Lanka's people have experienced accidents and illnesses. The listing is more long- Binura Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana and Nuwan Thushara are all absent.

" We have brought Pramod Madushan into our club," Jayasuriya said". There's also a popular fever in the team and we need to bill for that. Maheesh Theekshana's illness made him fit to perform. Wanindu Hasaranga likewise had it. Many people caught it, and we ultimately forced Binura Fernando to be admitted to the hospital.

The emergence of important people, though, is not something Jayasuriya wants to use as an reason. He insists there is plenty to play for and has spoken with people privately about putting an emphasis on "being emotionally in the right place."

" I'm time coach and I've just got these two line, but that's not how I think, "he said". When I was playing, and even now, I hate to lose. The current people are aware of this as well. When I talk to them, I tell them that viewers in this country like the sport, and a lot of us, including me, had brought cricket into this state to a certain area.

" I've spoken about that a lot inpidually with people and as a team. In terms of features and discipline, I've tried to do as much as I may. I want to make a positive environment for them so they can play with confidence and become emotionally stable.
