England hands Bethell, Hull, Mousley girl white-ball call-ups

Carse results from gambling restrictions for Australia line, but no area for Bairstow, Moeen or Jordan

England have handed second white-ball call-ups to Jacob Bethell, Josh Hull and Dan Mousley for next week's home set against Australia. John Turner, who is unlimited, is also a part of both teams, while Bryan Carse is back after serving a three-month disqualification for betting violations.

There was no area for soldiers Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali or Chris Jordan, all of whom were involved at the T20 World Cup in June, while neither Tom Hartley, who was with the club in the Caribbean but has yet to be capped in T20Is, nor Rehan Ahmed are included. Additionally, Mark Wood's damage prevents him from playing.

England will be led by Jos Buttler, alongside interim head coach Marcus Trescothick, for three T20Is and five Overdose Is. Buttler has never played since the T20 World Cup, having strained a leg while preparing for the Hundred, but is hoping to get involved in Lancashire's T20 Blast quarter-final at Hove next year, ahead of the primary T20I against Australia on September 11.

Bethell and Mousley, the Warwickshire spin-bowling allrounders, had been tipped for inclusion on the back of their T20 Blast and Hundred kind, while Leicestershire's 6ft 7in quickly bowling Hull has now been called up by England for all three forms in the space of two weeks. Bethell and Hull have been named in both teams, while Mousley is merely included for the T20Is.

Jordan Cox is another player who could render his T20I album, nearly two decades after he was first called up for England's journey of Pakistan. Cox was a part of the Oval Invincibles team that won back-to-back Hundred headings a fortnight before and is now the reserve flour for the Test part. Saqib Mahmood, Player of the Match in the Hundred last, is also up in argument in T20Is after two centuries interrupted by again stress injuries.

Carse, who was banned after an anti-corruption research by the Cricket Regulator, has never played any cricket since May- his expulsion is due to hoist later this year. He may add to England's pace-bowling choices alongside Turner, who toured the Caribbean last spring and has continued to please for Hampshire and Trent Rockets.

England will begin to concentrate on Pakistan's Champions Trophy next year in the ODI set against Australia. Five people of the Test crew, who could not be involved in the T20I line due to the short turn after the set with Sri Lanka, are included- Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith and Matthew Potts- but Joe Root has been rested.

Jofra Archer was even named in both teams, and is set to play his second ODI since the 2022-23 journey of Bangladesh, after which he suffered a relapse of his neck injury.
