Before making a decision regarding his IPL coming, MS Dhoni has used a wait-and-see strategy. Before making a decision on whether to enjoy another time or not, Dhoni wants to see what concept changes come into effect, especially those that pertain to player retention, as the IPL prepares its auction and engagement plans ahead of the 2025 season.

" There is a lot of time for it", Dhoni, who turned 43 in July, said at an event in Hyderabad. We must wait to see what decisions they make regarding player loyalty, etc. Right then, the game is not in our court.

" But, once the rules and regulations get formalised, I will get a visit, but needs to be in the best attention of the team."

The BCCI met company owners and authorities on Wednesday night in Mumbai, to explore a host of regulations. On the meeting's plan was the Impact Player principle, how many players are to be retained, and the lifestyle and consistency of the big auction ( one is due before next season ) among other factors.

Questions about Dhoni's prospect at the IPL have been surfacing between and at the end of the last few months, and one of them, involving the Chennai Super Kings ( CSK) succession plan, was addressed earlier this year when he handed the captain to Ruturaj Gaikwad, times before the season began.

CSK narrowly lost out on a playoffs port under Gaikwad when they finished second on the table with 14 points, the same as RCB on fourth place but behind on online work level.

In the dying overs last year, Dhoni played the role of a specialist in six-hitting. He generally walked out in the dying events of the CSK pitches and smoked 13 touchdowns and 14 fours in the 73 balls he faced across the year, translating to about three balls per limit. His attack rate was a staggering 220.54- the initial period where he struck at over 200- and he finished unbeaten in eight of his 11 innings.
