Allrounder Kathryn Bryce will be the captain and bowler Sarah Bryce, her sister, will be the vice-captain for Scotland at the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE.
This will be Scotland's girl vacation at the Women's T20 World Cup, and their crew is packed with allrounders. The other allrounders, aside from Kathryn, are Priyanaz Chatterji, Katherine Fraser and Megan McColl.
" The make-up and harmony of this crew is outstanding", head coach Craig Wallace said. " We've got match-winners from start to finish within it, which I think is the major difference in the development of this club during my short career. Folks have been putting in critical shows each time they step onto the field, and that goes ideal the way through the club".
After finishing second place behind Sri Lanka in the earlier this year's tournament competition in the UAE, Scotland qualified for the event. In the run-up to the T20 World Cup, they have produced sturdy shows in the Netherlands, where they played a tri-series against the visitors and Papua New Guinea.
" If you look at the current Netherlands line, we won five games out of six, and there is a degree in the wider group then, proved by some of those who've never been selected but who've been pushing and performing all season", Wallace said. " It was excellent to be able to say about people ' circumstances in a good sense based on the work they've both produced".
In all, thirteen of Scotland's 15 crew members from the tournament are part of the T20 World Cup squad. Offspinner Olivia Bell and past captain Abbi Aitken-Drummond, who both impressed in the Netherlands, have also been included.
Scotland are in Group B with England, Bangladesh, South Africa and West Indies. After two warm-up matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, they may travel to the UAE for a teaching station in the middle of September. On October 3, Bangladesh will host their T20 World Cup opener.
