The second three capped people to be retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad were Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, and Abhishek Sharma.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to retain Vincent Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy as their top two retained people ahead of the 2025 Tournament bid. According to information obtained by ESPNcricinfo, Head is likely to be retained for INR 14 million, while Reddy is anticipated to receive INR 6 million.
With these two additions, SRH may have completed their five-player cap on retained players before the auction, earning the core group that made the IPL 2024 last, and losing INR 75 million from their Rs 120 crore purse. ESPNcricinfo reported earlier SRH were set to retain Heinrich Klaasen ( INR 23 crore ), Pat Cummins ( INR 18 crore ) and Abhishek Sharma ( 14 crore ). At the bidding, they can then buy back just one of their unlimited players using a right-to-match card.
October 31 is also the date by which the ten companies have to post their listing of retained people to the IPL. Before the big auction in the 2025 season, the IPL franchises were able to maintain up to six players, with the exception of two unlimited international caps, which are available for maximum of five. The franchises are free to spend more than those amounts to their retained players, despite the IPL's least deductions for each player retained player being INR 18 million for the first player, INR 14 billion for the next, INR 11 million for the second, INR 18 crore for the third, and INR 14 crore for the five.
Cummins will continue to captain SRH after he, along with the instruction team led by Daniel Vettori, led them to the finals for the first time since 2020.
If Klaasen's price tag, which is INR 5 million more than the IPL's block of INR 18 million for the first retained player, was a shock, the amount agreed with Head is likely to increase more brow.
Brain had his discovery time in the IPL with SRH in 2024, smashing 567 works at a strike price of 191.55 at the top of the purchase. In 2024, he even became only the second T20 flour to score 1000-plus works at a strike price of more than 175 and common of more than 40 in a year.
While Head did not have an impact in the IPL last against Kolkata Knight Riders, he has a proven history of performing on large events- he scored a hundred against India in both the World Test Championship last in and the ODI World Cup final in 2023. His 137 in the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad played a key role in SRH buying him for INR 6.8 crore ($ 819, 000 approximately then ) at the IPL 2024 auction. And though his value tag has more than doubled, it is likely that he may have fetched a higher charge had he entered the bid.
Reddy, age 21, has also significantly increased in value since receiving INR 20 million in 2023. He was the Rising Player of the Year in IPL 2024, for scoring 303 works at a strike price of 143 and taking three innings with his hole ball. He was finally picked for India's T20I set in Zimbabwe but missed the trip because of injuries. Reddy later made his international debut during the house T20Is against Bangladesh earlier in October. He was part of the resources for the continued Test set against New Zealand and will go to Australia as part of the India A crew to perform two four-day activities from October 31 as well as the India club for the Border Gavaskar Trophy starting November 22.
