After suffering an all-pace strike in Rawalpindi's second Test, Pakistan have introduced a legspinner.
Shaheen Afridi has been left out of the Pakistan team for the next Check against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, beginning on August 30.
While Pakistan's mind coach Jason Gillespie stopped short of saying he had been dropped, he said Afridi was "working on some points" to increase his success. Pakistan named a 12-man club on the day of the match, which included legspinner Abrar Ahmed and quickly bowling Mir Hamza.
" Shaheen's missed out this game", Gillespie said. " We've had a nice chat with him, and he thoroughly understands and appreciates the thinking behind it. Shaheen's been given some suggestions. He's working on improving his ball so that it can be as effective as possible. He's working really well with Azhar Mahmood. Because there is so much cricket in all different types and Shaheen will perform a really significant part in that, we want to see him at his best."
Shaheen's kind, especially in Test cricket, has been a problem for Pakistan for almost a month now. He averaged over 41 in pace-friendly problems in Australia, and took two lower-order batsmen for 96 in a memorable showing in the first Check against Bangladesh. His pace, frequently in the mid-140 km range earlier in his profession, has even dipped since his most recent injuries last year. Afridi has tried to minimize those worries, but his ballistic appearances have not been as good.
The fact that Afridi became a father last week and has n't been identified as the main cause of his absence is the strongest indication that he has n't had a rest is evident.
" Shaheen's had an interesting last couple of days", Gillespie said. " He's a new parents. We see a situation where we can allow him to travel and spent some time with his family as well.
While Abrar's participation in the starting XI is good, after Pakistan's decision to pick an all-pace strike for the first Test backfired, Gillespie said the guests had named 12 because of weather situations in Rawalpindi. It has rained for much of the past three days, and with the pitch under sheets, neither side has been able to get a tight enough look at the floor. Education on Thursday was even cancelled due to the weather, with the press events held at the Serena Hotel, where the team are staying, rather than the surface.
" We're looking at what our best mix is this game", Gillespie said. " We'll glance at circumstances and decide what the best beauty of our ball attack looks like. Due to the weather, we wanted to name 12 out of the 12 that we have n't been able to see much at the surface. Before choosing the team we believe you take the most batsmen, we want to be as informed as possible.
After falling to Bangladesh in the style in Rawalpindi over the weekend, Pakistan may win the series.
