India's bowler has been improving his bat and has now scored 200 operates in the TNPL with a strike price of 167.
At 37, in his first full Tamil Nadu Premier League ( TNPL) season, R Ashwin is expanding his range as a batter. He has always been adept at finding backs in the middle, which the Rajasthan Royals use to give their top scorers a more appropriate starting spot for their runners-up in the IPL. But at this week's TNPL, Ashwin has been working on playing limit pictures circle of the wicket, and it's paying off.
R Sai Kishore and S Ajith Ram were left-arm fingerspinners R Sai Kishore and S Ajith Ram in the Qualifier 2 at Chepauk on Friday, but Ashwin won the match with a number of backward blasts. He was especially intense on Sai Kishore, scoring 28 off nine balloons at a strike rate of over 300. In this TNPL, Ashwin has 200 operates in eight innings and 166 hit rates overall. 66, with five of those wickets coming right at the top or No. 3 for Dindigul Dragons.
" Appearance, all is work in progress, right? ," he said on the day of the TNPL last against Shahrukh Khan's Lyca Kovai Kings in Chennai. " You can even request Shahrukh Khan about it. How does he do power-hitting … how do you hit the ball through the off side and leg side? It's all about repeats, and understanding points and triggers.
Because I know I may hit the ball down the ground and use my feet, I felt like I needed to increase my activity and widen my perspectives rectangular of the wicket in the previous IPL. I had to beg myself, Would I Like to Look at Another Possibilities? So it gives me a new avenue to observe and stay interested in the game if I may ask that question and find an answer. "
P Vignesh, a quarterback left-arm fingerspinner for India earlier this year, has been particularly outstanding with his accuracy and control in this TNPL. He had missed the Under-19 World Cup reduce for India earlier this year. In Qualifier 2 against Tiruppur, he came ahead with images of 3 for 8 and the Player-of-the-Match prize. Like Vignesh, Tiruppur's offspin-bowling allrounder Mohamed Ali was excluded from India's Under-19 World Cup squad but has made a level in the TNPL. Ashwin has urged the next generation of batsmen to accept losses and stay upgrading their knowledge.
" Look, first I think missing the Under-19 cut is not the end of the world. I really need people to consider this game as a part of life, especially given how fragile our upcoming generation is be," Ashwin said. " Failure and success is really, very regular, and individuals become better just through losses. So I know P Vignesh, he has been coming to the Indian team baskets, and I think he has improved every day. And this kind of event gives these men an outlet to express and improve their game. I sincerely hope they are willing to develop it frequently and provide responses to the inquiries that will be made. "
Shahrukh: GT helped increase my activity against roll
Shahrukh has frequently struggled with spin, especially when starting his innings, but he has recently been working on a professional tweak, a trigger movement that allows him to advance more, which he believes will improve his baseball skills.
" When I was with the Gujarat Titans, we had a station for about a couple of months that, so I started working a lot on my roll game because they wanted me to bird up the order," Shahrukh said. " And when you bat up the order, clearly for a dough like me having my fears against spin bowlers, especially, opposition groups would bring in rewrite when I come out to bat.
They were there to assist me with my roll activity, which was really helpful. The forward press I'm doing [in the TNPL] is now quite evident, and it has helped me score both on the right and left feet. "
While Shahrukh's general strike charge against speed in the IPL is 161. 11, it falls quickly to 112 against roll. However, he was able to increase his spin-strike charge to 168 in the IPL 2024. while maintaining a pace-adjusted, equally great strike price. And when Kovai met Dindigul in the group stage in Tirunelveli, Shahrukh took on unknown spin Varun Chakravarthy and left-arm spin Vignesh on his way to an undefeated 51 off 25 balls.
Having lost that match to Dindigul, Shahrukh has called his team to put together their "best cricket" in their pursuit for a three-peat in the TNPL.
" I really do n't know [about the law of averages]. We're taking it as just another sport," Shahrukh said. " The law of averages and the hat-trick [of titles ] … all these things on social media are there, but we are n't focusing on that. Just in two games have we raised the expectations that we as a product have in eight of the eight games we have played.
" I hope we try to bring it out even in this match," he said. As far as I'm concerned, we still have n't played our best cricket this year, and we will try and do that. "
