Former West Indies allrounder will be in command of the Knight Riders groups in different T20 teams to
Dwayne Bravo, a former West Indies allrounder, won four Cricket names in various roles before completing his long and storied career with the Chennai Super Kings. From the 2025 season, he will serve as a mentor for the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR ).
Before agreeing to a long-term deal, Bravo had a recent meeting with KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the CPL. Apart from KKR, he will be in charge of all T20 league franchises, including the Trinbago Knight Riders ( CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders ( MLC ), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders ( ILT20 ).
" DJ Bravo joining us is an interesting creation". Mysore said in a speech. " His unrelenting drive to succeed, along with his vast experience and deep information, will significantly benefit our company and people".
Bravo, who turns 41 in October, replaces Gautam Gambhir, who took over as India's head coach immediately after helping KKR win their second Tournament title in 2024. A time prior to the news, Bravo had retired from all cricket. Aside from Gambhir, KKR even lost two of their secretary coaches, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, both of whom were also given tasks in India's support team. Chandrakant Pandit and Bharat Arun may serve as bowlers coaches for KKR.
" For the past ten years in the CPL, I've played for the Trinbago Knight Riders." Having played for and against the Knight Riders in several leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate", Bravo said in a statement. " The masters ' passion, the competence of the management, and the family-like culture make it a unique place. This is the best system for me as I move from playing to training and coaching the next generation of participants".
The leader position with KKR is Bravo's following team control position in the IPL. Having joined CSK in 2011, he retired from the Tournament after the 2022 time and joined the company as bowling coach from the 2023 season. With CSK winning the title in 2023, Bravo immediately became a success in his first training position, joining them with three player names. Among the best dying bowlers in T20 cricket, Bravo is the third-highest wicket-taker in Tournament history and the first player to get two colored caps in the game.
With more than 500 T20s worth of experience, Bravo is considered by people and contemporaries as among the best strategists and rewards, features that had elevated him to the West Indies captain. He had retired from foreign cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup, and while he continued to play in T20 teams ( at Mumbai Emirates in ILT20, Texas Super Kings in MLC and TKR in CPL), he slowly moved towards training. During the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bravo played a vital role as a specialist coach for Afghanistan, helping the team making the semi-finals for the first time in their past.
