Past Sri Lankan international player found to be committing a number of misconduct while working for Cricket Victoria.
Dulip Samaraweera, a former Sri Lanka foreign, has been given a 20-year restrictions from Cricket Australia for his actions, which have been deemed "utterly reproachable." He will not be permitted to hold any positions in CA, the state organizations, BBL, or WBBL leagues during that period.
Following an investigation from the CA's Integrity Department, Samaraweera, 52, was discovered to have repeatedly broken the rules of CA's Code of Conduct while working for Cricket Victoria before being sent to a fee that banned him from the company for 20 times.
Samaraweera, who played for Sri Lanka between 1993 and 1995, was a long-time assistant coach of the Victoria children's and Melbourne Stars WBBL before resigning only two months after being denied a position he wanted to fill due to the state's rules. He had previously played for both the state's cricket teams.
The major violation of the code of conduct was unrelated to that. Samaraweera's behavior in violation of CA's Code of Conduct was discovered by the CA's Commission, which was found to be inconvenient. It is said that a player was involved in the behavior.
Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins released a statement condemning Samaraweera's behavior.
" We strongly support the decision taken by the Code of Conduct Commission now, banning Dulip Samaraweera for 20 times", Cummins said. We believe the behavior at Cricket Victoria was completely repulsive and a deception of all we stand for.
" The victim in this case has demonstrated remarkable strength of character and confidence in speaking up. She may continue to receive our continuing assistance, enabling her to succeed both on and off the field.
" From an institution view, the safety and wellbeing of everyone at Cricket Victoria is paramount. We will not bear any attitude which compromises that place, or our folks, and will always help our tradition of speaking up".
CA even stated that they are" committed to providing a secure environment for all people and people and the happiness of those subjected to abuse is major".
