The Indian fast bowler has n't released a date for his recovery from an ankle injury.
Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, wants to make sure he is fit before playing global cricket.
Shami, 34, was injured in an knee injury that required surgery earlier this year, and he has since missed out on the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
At the annual awards ceremony for the Cricket Association of Bengal, Shami said," Koshish jaldi hi par beloved hoon kyun ke major janta hoon kaafi time hey gaya ka team such bahar rehte hue."" I am working hard to make a comeback immediately because I have been out of action for quite some time," Shami said. " But, I want to confirm there is no pain when I return. I've to function on my health, so that there is no pain".
" The stronger I return, the better it is for me. I do n't want to rush and risk getting injured again, be it against Bangladesh, New Zealand or the Australia series. I've already started bowling, but I wo n't take any chances until I am 100 % fit".
PTI reported last month that Shami, who is undergoing recovery, is likely to return to competitive cricket for his private team Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and make a potential global presence in one of their Test games against New Zealand.
Shami is expected to play either one or two of Bengal's games in UP on October 11 and Bihar on October 18 for the Ranji Trophy.
Shami also made an apprehension about playing regional cricket before making an international debut.
" If I need to perform private cricket to check my health, I will", Shami said. Regardless of the opposition or format, what matters is that I am fully prepared for whatever comes second.
Shami is expected to be a vital figure in India's preparations for the future five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
" Favourites toh hum hi hai, chinta unhe honi chahiye ( We are the favourites, they should be worried )", Shami said.
