Keeper-batter speaks after Welsh Fire success in their beginning device of Men's Hundred
For the first time in his public appearance since joining England's Test team, Jonny Bairstow has acknowledged that his six-month travel had "taken its burden" on him this year.
Despite reiterating his desire to play for England, Bartstow acknowledged that his" sacrifices" were compelled by playing all three international competitions and the IPL last winter. Bairstow was the only England player involved in all four of the 50-over World Cup, the Test set in India, the IPL and the T20 World Cup. He hit one outstanding hundred at the IPL for Punjab Kings but then struggled for kind across those outings: he made two 50s in nine innings at the 50-over World Cup, failed to reach 40 in the Test line, and had a combined period at the T20 World Cup.
" I had the best part of seven weeks away from home since January. I had five nights at home in my own sleep until three weeks ago," Bairstow said. " That's the timing of the game. That's being fortunate enough to be a part of all three forms and that's the point you have to surrender, time at home.
To have some downtime and a unique little period of time was really great because it takes its toll while you are away for that amount of time. "
Bairstow was dropped from England's Test crew to sing West Indies, alongside Ben Foakes, with Jamie Smith preferred as their wicketkeeper-batter. " Jonny only needs to get back to what he was a couple of years back," Rob Key, England's handling chairman, said when announcing the club. " Usually, his kind- in all types- has just been going somewhat in the wrong way. "
However, Bairstow made it clear that he wants to compel him to rejoin.
