Additionally, it made an announcement that from 2030, the number of team competing in the Women's T20 World Cup will increase to 16.
The ICC has confirmed that a review into the conduct of T20 World Cup 2024 may be carried out after the international body set up a panel with three of its board directors- Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khawaja- to handle the review and post findings after in the year.
Prior to this report, ESPNcricinfo had revealed that the costs associated with the US and Caribbean foot of the game had been scrutinized. All 108 people of the ICC annual convention in Colombo, which took place on July 19 to 22, took the decision to appoint a review section. Before making a report to the table, the three-man panel will work with an independent consulting firm to carry out the review.
The ICC even approved the development of the Women's T20 World Cup to 16 groups in 2030. Eight groups had taken part in the annual event in 2009 and that amount rose to ten in 2016. Ten clubs will even take part in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in October. The 2026 model will include 12 participating groups, for which the cut-off time for certification is October 31, 2024, before the development to 16 in 2030.
For the next Men's T20 World Cup in 2026, the ICC said the allocation of the eight regional qualifying spots would be as follows: two teams each from Africa and Europe, one from the Americas, and three from Asia and East Asia Pacific ( EAP ) combined. Recently, Asia had two locations and EAP one.
The ICC even revealed that both USA Cricket and Cricket Chile have been "formally placed on see" because they do not meet the requirements for ICC account. They have 12 months to make rectifications.
" Neither part is considered to have in position a fit for purpose detailed management and administrative structure and methods", the ICC said in a release. " The ICC Americas company will work with Cricket Chile to assist them in remedying their non-compliance. The committee agreed that a normalisation committee comprising of board and management representatives will be set up to monitor and track USA Cricket's compliance roadmap and the ICC board will supply its right to dismiss or remove the member for ongoing non-compliance".
