Following Cricket Ireland's decision to stop hosting the game due to financial problems, the suits were set up.
This September in Edinburgh, Scotland and Australia will host their second bilateral people's T20I match. It will be Australia's second visit of Scotland in 11 times, and arrive before they play three T20Is and five Wickets against England. The Grange does host the games on September 4, 6, and 7, before the first T20I against England at the Ageas Bowl on September 11 will take place.
The announcement was made as the two teams prepared for a T20 World Cup Group B game in St Lucia, which will decide whether England or Scotland may play for Australia in the Super Eight. England and Scotland are on three and five points between, behind Australia, who lead the group with six points. If Scotland beat Australia, they did advance, but could still qualify if they are defeated but maintain a better online run-rate over England.
Australia were actually scheduled to play three Wickets and a T20I against Ireland in August and September, but Ireland withdrew from hosting the game because of financial problems. In response, Cricket Australia contacted Cricket Scotland earlier this year to inquire about solutions to the Ireland journey.
" Cricket Australia came to us and said we would prefer to partner with you and we said we would definitely prefer to partner with you," Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade told ESPNcricinfo. Simply put, it was necessary to find a way to accomplish it.
" So, for us, it was a no-brainer to include Australia coming to Scotland before they play in England and it was just finding a way to make it happen. And thanks to the support of [CA main professional ] Nick Hockley and his team at Cricket Australia, we've been able to find a way. "

Scotland and Australia have played only five global matches- all ODIs- against each other over the years, and only half outside of a World Cup, both at The Grange. Australia has triumphed on numerous occasions, and in the most recent intergovernmental encounter, in a one-off ODI in 2013, Australia recorded a thumping 200-run victory. Richie Berrington, Scotland's present captain, is the only surviving person from the 2013 match on either side.
However, Lindblade, an Australian-born native from Australia, believes the trip will be the perfect opportunity to showcase what Edinburgh has to offer as a cricket place as the panel deals with the aftermath of destructive reports that Cricket Scotland has been found guilty of administrative racism and sexism.
" What a way to finish the year to include Australia coming to Scotland, playing in three T20 tournaments at the Grange, when we have been through such very difficult days," Lindblade said.
" It will be a celebration of cricket in Scotland," says the group," we hope everyone gets behind us, and when tickets go on sale, we will have The Grange filled on three days and demonstrate to everyone how important it is that it is that everyone can enjoy it." "
Lindblade hoped the journey will lead to other trips by Full-Member nations:" We need to perform high-quality cricket more usually. Allrounder Michael Leask said the line would get "incredible" for Scotland. " [ We ] do n't get many opportunities to play teams like Australia, England, India, Pakistan- especially at home," Leask said. " That is going to get a great situation for Scotland to host the World Test champions, the International leaders, actually one of the best in the world at our house surface. "
