Our annual vacation is very close to the sun, and it's all about catching up with the Jameses.
The 2024-25 NBA season is ok. You can endure the sweltering sights of our annual vacation because we bring it to close to the sun. We May Basically Believe this is Popular Takes.
LeBron and Bronny James, the second father-son combo in NBA history, were photographed side by side on Instagram in 2004 and 2024 when the Los Angeles Lakers ' shared the first two sons.
The message read," Time flies".
News flash: It does not. And that's what makes this feat but impressive.
When Bronny was born in October 2004, Twitter was still in its early stages. YouTube did not exist. In three more years, the iPhone wo n't be developed. 2010 saw the debut of Instagram. This has been done for all time.
But LeBron and Bronny are actually friends, and every time between them serves as another reminder. Did you know LeBron had a boy who allegedly threw a baseline at him? or the 3-pointer that Bronny made over his father? Yes, because both of you made stories when we learned about each.
Picture the feelings of the Lakers if you've already had enough of them. Do not get me wrong: It will be really great to observe LeBron and Bronny share a court for the first time in the regular season. It will be entertaining to see a father's earliest help to his brother. That innovation is brief — for us, no them.
However, every town may have questions for the Dodgers regarding any positive or negative developments involving father and son. And if it is n't now, it will become a problem. The feel-good history does not feel so good when, for instance, they are asked about Bronny's movements to and from the G League as the costs mount under first-year mind coach JJ Redick. or when LeBron rests his injured left knee. Or when D'Angelo Russell is benched.
That is right: The Dodgers are a show. They have no chance to win a championship, and yet they will be the sport's biggest account — yet bigger than last year, when they lost in the first round of the finals.
Consider, LeBron turns 40 years old in December. He gets to play with his brother because, by month's end, he will probably include played more minutes in the NBA than anyone ever has. He is still really great, a third-team All-NBA selection last year. His statistics — 26-7-8 on 54/41/75 firing splits — remain outstanding. But, however slower it may be, there is no mistaking the current collapse he has experienced.
LeBron's inability or unwillingness to regularly put forth the most work on that conclusion was reflected in the Lakers ' 17th-rated defense last year. He missed 71 games between 2023 and 2024, breaking a law that had caused him to miss twice as many activities per year as he did during the previous four years. His superior figures in that four-year windows are simply his worst since his rookie year, when he won 35 game at Bronny's time.
The Lakers have played in the play-in competition three of the past four years, which is no accident. They failed to make the playoffs wholly in 2022. Last year ended in a five-game, first-round postseason return.
And how did the Dodgers respond to next month's deficiencies? Not by making a second trade or free-agent drafting but by adding a first-time head coach, the No. 17 general pick in the document and LeBron's child.
Oh, and they handed James a two-year,$ 104 million expansion that carries him through his 41st birthday.
Hi: Here are the first-year records of every head coach with no previous training experience:
Steve Nash ( 48-24 ), lost in the second round
Derek Fisher ( 17-65 ), failed to make the playoffs
Steve Kerr ( 67-15 ), NBA champions
Jason Kidd ( 44-38 ), lost in the second round
Mark Jackson ( 23-43 ), failed to make the playoffs
Vinny Del Negro ( 41-41 ), lost in the first round
Isiah Thomas ( 41-41 ), lost in the first round
Doc Rivers ( 41-41 ), failed to make the playoffs
Larry Bird ( 58-24 ), lost in the conference finals
M. L. Carr ( 33-49 ), failed to make the playoffs
Quinn Buckner ( 13-69 ), failed to make the playoffs
Magic Johnson (5-11 ), failed to make the playoffs
Dan Issel ( 36-46 ), failed to make the playoffs
Dick Van Arsdale ( 14-12 ), failed to make the playoffs
Paul Silas ( 36-46 ), failed to make the playoffs
Under the fresh scalp coach, the team has frequently gotten worse.
Sometimes Redick is an exception. It's a strange word to read when Russell tells reporters that he texted Redick a communication from the golf training thanking him for creating a sing he had never seen before. He wants to play defense more aggressively than he ever has because of his enthusiasm for the new coach.

Then suddenly, Russell is in his 10th NBA season. He is who he is. And Redick, as far as I know, is no God.
Redick got protective when asked how Rui Hachimura may "take that second step", as if the sixth-year pro does not need to increase. In Redick's eye, Hachimura just needs to be in better position to achieve, and even he is ideal. Or sometimes thinking there are rapid changes to what has ailed these Warriors is crazy.
Yet if Redick is improving as a coach, which he certainly could, this team won just one playoff game last year in what were LeBron and Anthony Davis ' best and healthiest seasons since they shared the subject in 2020.
Davis ' career large was reached by the 76 game he played last year. What are the odds that someone who missed an average of 28 matches per year from 2018-23 may prevent missing that kind of day again? The Lakers got the best conditions they may request for from their two best people and still could not prevent an earlier return.
What do the rest of the Lakers think of a team that traded every accessible advantage for LeBron's preferred playing companion, hired his radio co-host as their head coach, and selected his son in the second round when things turn hard, as they always do throughout an 82-game season?
LeBron is the Lakers ' society, and he is about to get 40 years old. The show of their time will be on opening evening, before Los Angeles takes its show on the road because he has Bronny.
