No decision has yet been made regarding the location, Shams Charania reports from The Athletic. JJ Redick is the front-runner to succeed Mark Sanchez as the Los Angeles Lakers ' head coach.
Per the statement, Redick is the preferred for the job over other prospect James Borrego, the associate nose trainer of the New Orleans Eagles. Redick, a former NBA player, is now a spread scientist for ESPN. According to the report, the Lakers are also looking for head coaches in several ways.
Redick, 39, has always held a coaching place beyond the adolescent level. He played 15 times in the NBA as a firing expert from 2006- 2021. He was formerly a striking shooting shield at Duke from 2002- 06. Redick has worked for ESPN as a spread analyst since retiring as a person.
Since retiring, Redick has appeared as a potential coach on numerous occasions, and he apparently had interviews with the Charlotte Hornets in addition to the Lakers this winter. The Hornets hired Boston Celtics associate Charles Lee to get over for Steve Clifford, who moved into a forward- business consulting position in April. In 2023, Redick presumably had an interview for the Toronto Raptors training position.
Charania cited options declaring that the Lakers have become "infatuated" with Redick during their training research. During its hunt, the company has been consulting with previous Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who coached Redick during his four years in Durham.
Additionally, Redick co-hosts a radio with the Lakers superstar and has a connection with LeBron James. James has the ability to renounce his deal with the Lakers, which gives him considerable leverage.
According to the report, the Dodgers have conducted in-person conversations with both Redick and Borrego as their research has narrowed down. Borrego has "impressed" in his conversations, according to the document. Since 2003, he has worked for the San Antonio Spurs, Eagles, Charlotte Hornets, and Orlando Magic as an admin or head coach. He was the time head coach of the Magic in 2015 and the head manager of the Hornets from 2018- 2022.
The Lakers have reportedly spoken with Miami Heat secretary Chris Quinn, Celtics admin Sam Cassell, Minnesota Timberwolves associate Micah Nori, and Denver Nuggets associate David Adelman.
