PG Derrick Rose officially waived by the Raptors

Derrick Rose, a back point guard and past NBA club MVP, will not play for the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Memphis Grizzlies will no longer hire back stage protect Derrick Rose after the Athletic releases him as league MVP.

Rose made the announcement in April of his ideas to play in Memphis for his 17th NBA time in 2024-25. Rose joined the Raptors in 2023 as a free broker. He was slated to play next year on the second season of a two-year$ 6.5 million contract.

Injuries limited Rose to 24 game last year. He made an impact when he was attainable on a roster plagued by the long breaks of key people including injured shooting watch Desmond Bane and All-Star place watch Ja Morant, who missed time according to expulsion and injuries.

In 16.6 minutes per game, Rose averaged eight points and 3.3 assists while shooting 46.1 % from the floor and 36.6 % from 3-point distance. He made seven begins.

Rose, 35, said in April that he was returning to the Grizzlies next year and had discussed his position with public administrator Zach Kleiman and head coach Taylor Jenkins.

" Yes, I'm coming back", Rose said, per the Memphis Commercial-Appeal. " I talked to Zach. I talked to coach.... This summers, it's all about attacking my rehabs, my training and continuing to be disciplined".

What prompted the Grizzlies ' report, which was not immediately known, is unknown. Neither Rose nor the team had addressed the decision at the time of Monday's review.

The No. 1 pull of the 2008 Draft by the Bulls, Rose was named Rookie of the Year, therefore earned league MVP in his second year in Chicago. He's a three-time NBA All-Star.

Accidents, including an ACL tear, price Rose the whole 2012-13 time and have limited him since. But he's carved out a part as a source for a decade-plus since injury derailed his job.

Rose has stated that he wants to enjoy once more in the forthcoming year. If he does, it apparently wo n't be with the Grizzlies.
