Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks agreed to a five-year,$ 150 million expansion to his rookie deal Monday afternoon, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal, which does n't include any options, is fully guaranteed.

Johnson had a breakout plan last year with the Hawks, who initially selected him with the No. 20 general get out of Duke in the 2021 NBA Draft. He averaged 16 points and 8.7 touchdowns, both of which were career spikes in what was his first year as a real basic. He shot better than 51 % from the field, too.
This year, Johnson will play for the Hawks in front of legendary player Clint Capela and star Trae Young. Under Quin Snyder's first-year head coach, the Hawks last year lost for the first time since 2020, going only 34-46. In exchange for several first-round draft picks, Larry Nance Jr., E. J. Liddell, and Dyson Daniels, Atlanta also signed Dejounte Murray in a package with the New Orleans Pelicans in June.
Before the date of Monday, Johnson was one of the key players from the school of 2021 who agreed to a new contract extension. He joined Jalen Green ( Rockets ), Alperen Şengün ( Rockets ), Cade Cunningham ( Pistons ), Evan Mobley ( Cavaliers ), Scottie Barnes ( Raptors ), Jalen Suggs ( Magic ), Franz Wagner ( Magic ), Moses Moody ( Warriors ), Trey Murphy III ( Pelicans ) and Corey Kispert ( Wizards ).
The Brooklyn Nets host the Hawks on Wednesday to begin the time.
