Philadelphia held a team conference after their third straight lost on Monday, with the team falling to 2-11.
After losing to the Miami Heat on Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers have had a difficult start to the season. Additionally, it's reported that stress is raging between center Joel Embiid and protect Tyrese Maxey in the vault room.
The 76ers called a team conference following the loss to the Heat, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday, to revive the team after suffering a third straight battle. Maxey criticized Embiid for being late for team activities at the time of the conference, citing the impact that had on the coaching staff and the rest of the team.
Embiid was reportedly ill on Monday and was not with the team for the majority of the evening before showing up for warmups and participating in the game, according to Charania.
Maxey and Embiid, who apparently have a close companionship, have a record of holding each other accountable, per Charania. As a result, Embiid reportedly received the censure, but he also pointed out his uncertainty regarding how the team might sometimes play on the court.
Per Charania, former watch Kyle Lowry was the one who called the conference, where the players and coaches had a "heart-to-heart" about transparency in hope of turning their time around. Philadelphia blew a 19-point result in the 106-89 lost to Miami.
Despite the excitement of acquiring Paul George in the winter, the 76ers have fallen way short of expectations so far this year. Philadelphia is already last in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Washington Wizards for the worst record in the group.
Due to injuries and other factors, the big three players, George, Maxey, and Embiid, have n't played together this year, which is a part of the issue. Maxey has been out since Nov. 7 with a hamstring injuries, and George also missed the start of the season with a left leg bone scar, but he came back on Nov. 4.
Embiid, however, has only played three games so far this year: He missed the start of the season with strange "knee damage management", leading to an NBA analysis and a$ 100, 000 fine for the team according to "inconsistent" claims about his injury. While receiving an NBA suspension for shoving a writer, Embiid missed an extra three games.
