" I was glad that I got back out on the judge", said Hayward, then 34 years old. I felt as though I had returned to my former self. I had some of my career-best matches in Charlotte. I'm at peace with my job and where everything took me. Unfortunately, the team aspect did n't work out the way I wanted it to, but yeah: It's hard to think about my career without thinking about Boston and the injury and everything".
In the meantime, he watched his former Celtics friends lose without him.
" Certainly, I'm people. It would've been nice if I would've been allowed to do it when I was it", said Hayward. " That was definitely what the expectations were." But I also have great associations with the people that are still there. I'm very glad for Brad Stevens, Joe Mazzulla, and of course Al and Jayson and JB, the people I played with there. They are now set up so that they can probably do it again this month.
A" bit" of team came calling for Hayward's service this summer, hoping he could be a missing element to a title contender, according to his agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports and Entertainment. But Hayward decided this was it for his rings occupation, though he hopes to be connected to the game.
