Previous France, Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas has never held up in his judgment of England's Euro 2024 prospects
England's chances of winning the Euro 2024 competition should not be in the hands of anyone in France, according to previous Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas, who has delivered a stern ruling.
Didier Deschamps ’ area take on Spain on Tuesday nights for a spot in the Euro 2024 last, while England experience Netherlands in Wednesday evening’s next semi-final.
England and France both started the game as the bookies ' top two contenders for the title, but both have flattered the odds in Germany, where neither player has scored from open play, and both have relied on a stoppage-time equalizer and penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals.
But if the two factors meet in Sunday ’s last, Gallas, who won 84 cap for France, has been quick to dismiss the Three Lions hopes of ending 58 years of damage.
“ Why would anyone in France be worried about England? , ” he told Lord Ping, laughing. “Seriously. If the last is played between France and England, next France will be the favorite.
“ I would give France a 60 % chance of winning the game. I'm being kind to England by giving them a 40 % chance because I spent the majority of my career there [laughs ]. ”
Gallas, who won two Premier Leagues with Chelsea, added that he is surprised England made it this far.
“ I will be honest with you, ” he continued. “ I did n't expect England to qualify for the semi-final. I tipped Switzerland to succeed against England, so I got that one bad. It's great that England has qualified for the semi-final.
“ I love the English supporters – they are wonderful. The match against Holland will be very exciting. I really was n’t choose a success between the two countries. England has a habit of letting you down, especially if you declare your help for them, but I hope they can defeat Holland.
I wo n't make a prediction because I do n't want to jinx it, for the love of English fans. After England’s shows, anyone expected them to get to this level of the game, but here they are.
Gallas believes Gareth Southgate may fill Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer's bigger responsibility because England struggled at times during the event.
I believe Gareth Southgate's determination to not sing Cole Palmer is the one that I would challenge him with. After the next game in the class, England were so poor against Denmark, and he still did n’t discover any action.
“ I could n’t believe it because England were crying out for something a bit different. Against Slovenia, Palmer was given some minutes. Southgate tried to put in his best people, and it appears he has hoped things would come up naturally rather than create a plan; it almost seems like he expects the people to work it out for themselves when he looks at the people.
Even when they have been performing poorly, he has been reluctant to take off his great names and make adjustments. What can you tell him at this point, though, given that the viewers and the media have frequently questioned his decisions throughout this game?
“ He’s taken his team to the semi-finals. He’s done his job. Has England had the benefit of advancing this way? They might have had much more trouble, in my opinion. ”
