The essential Champions League goal was headed home by the defender to match Paco Gento's long-standing record.
After scoring the goal that gave Real Madrid the lead in the Champions League final, Daniel Carvajal became the first person to start six victories with a single purpose, he hailed his "dream night."
The 32-year-old right-back had only ever managed one Champions League aim in his whole career, scoring against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015 when Los Blancos scored the opener goal at Wembley to put them on program for a 2- 0 triumph over Borussia Dortmund.
It was his fifth Champions League triumph, a miracle matched by Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Nacho, but none of the other three started all six championships. Just one person can meet Paco Gento, who won six Western Cup titles for Real Madrid between 1956 and 1966, for the entire story of the competition.
" I'm pretty happy to join this elite club that has won six European Cups," said Carvajal. " We know how difficult it is to win the European Cup – I've won all of them in the first XI, playing for the club of my life, so I could n't be happier.
When the fit was especially challenging, scoring was an incredible experience. For me, it was a dreamy day.
Carvajal's fifth aim and victory earned him the title of Real Madrid's "man of the match" award, just like Gento, who was regarded as a legend until his tragic passing in 2022.
" I did n't have the chance to talk to him, but when he used to travel with us, we had huge respect for him," Carvajal said". He was a true story for the team, always standing close to our dressing room. As Real Madrid supporters, he will forever be remembered in our minds.
" It seemed impossible to add that league, with six Western Cups, and of course, why not wish to get another? However, we must love this. Whatever the coming brings, we may see".
Carvajal was chosen as the boy to lay the foundation of the team's new Valdebebas training facility in 2004 because he had been selected for the Real Madrid youth system.
" I laid the second rock 20 years ago, and people who know me know how I work every day", he said.
