The 2024/25 time is among us and Europe's biggest team competition has undergone its biggest change in a century.
The upcoming draw did look very different from the common team stage of the Champions League, which the organization has used since its major rebranding from the German Cup in the 1990s.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa are all preparing for the game ahead of the start of the Premier League season, but when will their know their competitors? DataVictory examines the timing and operation of the draw.
When will the Champions League stage draw be held?
The draw for the group phase of the Champions League will take place on Thursday, August 29 in Monaco.
That may follow the last certification play-off large which will assume the night, with the first game of the group stage taking place between September 17 to 19.
How does the fresh Champions League format job?
Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that we refer to the "league period" rather than the above group stage because this competition has undergone a major change this year.
Gone are the common groups of four and in its place there will be one division containing all 36 groups that have made it through to this level.
In a change from playing the same opponents home and away in the league phase, each team will play eight games against eight different teams ( four at home and four away ).
Teams are placed in four seeded pots before the draw, with each area taking on two groups from each bowl, one at home and one away. At the end of this group phase, the best eight teams qualify quickly for the last-16 and those finishing seventh to 24th will perform in two-legged knock-out play-offs to finish the last-16 knockout schedule.
The opposition finally returns to the pre-existing knockout event, which is played in a natural venue, with Munich's Allianz Arena receiving the smile this year.
