Three new packages for Newcastle are available this year, and one of them truly stands out.

Teaming up with Adidas for the first time since 2010, a move prompted by repeated complaints from fans about past system provider Castore, the Magpies did look magnificent in stripes for the 2024/25 strategy. Particularly so with their home and away pieces, both of which pay homage to the club's renowned maroon and violet hooped change shirts from the middle of the 1990s.

The pale, black and green next set is a less stripey matter, but that's the one we're here to talk about. After a relatively disappointing performance in 2023/24, when Eddie Howe's side failed to earn Champions League certification, it seems Newcastle have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure success.

In a clear smile to their absent set from the 1999/2000 time, Newcastle and Adidas have come out with a slick-looking light, black and green range. And one of the first things you'll notice is that is n't the club's regular badge on the chest...

Otherwise, the Magpies have gone with the vintage emblem which incorporates the animal from which they take their name – and whose feathers inspires the colors of this clothing. There's a second magpie on the back, beneath the collar, as if in attempt to increase their luck ( magpies are very fortuitous, doncha know ).

After all, one for sad, two for satisfaction, as the lyric goes. Every game in which Newcastle wore their green ahead number was lost past term. They will want to prevent that from happening again, I suppose.

Some may argue that the addition of green on the band adds yet another example of the club's ownership in Saudi Arabia. Since the mega-money takeover of St. James ' Park, it seems more than a accident that Newcastle have used a partially or fully natural system in each of their three activities.

On Saturday, August 17, Eddie Howe's Birds take on Premier League visitors Southampton. The "magpie equipment" was on display for their first away game against Bournemouth on Sunday.
