Basketball may be at the Olympics, but for a former England worldwide, another sport will be of much greater interest this summer.
We love a father-and-son wearing trio, and we'll see the latter half of one in motion at the 2024 Olympics. Leeds supporters in certain might want to keep their eyes on the sports this summertime in Paris.
And especially the 1,500m and 5,00m: that's where George Mills, brother of ex-Leeds and England defender Danny, may be competing for Team GB. After taking home 5,000m gold at the German Championships earlier this year, the 25-year-old may be competing for the first time at the Games.
George's Olympics comeback comes 22 times after Danny played in all five of England's activities at the 2002 World Cup. And the 19-time Three Lions worldwide is a happy father right then.
Danny explained to his son, George nearly followed his son's feet by playing football professionally before turning to running after giving an interview to talkSPORT. He said:
" Running is great for football, but football is n't great for running. If you want to consider running significantly, you're going to have to give up sports. It's a great move for a 14- or 15-year-old to switch from a team activity to an adult game. "
Undoubtedly, George made that leap safely, thanks largely to the enthusiasm of his dad. The couple would go out running along on family vacations, George explained, also if he "would attempt and sleep in" some evenings.
But, it sounds like Danny did include preferred for George to become a player. Explaining his argument, he continued:
" Watching sports is the worst... With sports, if you make a mistake, you'll find another chance. If you miss an empty target, you'll find another chance.
For about 30 minutes, watching sports is similar to watching a sudden-death penalty fight. It really keeps going. "
