Prior to the new Premier League season, Newcastle United have had a polite transfer window, with few major additions making the jump.

Two supply athletes, a free agent in Lloyd Kelly, and a permanent acquisition have all been added to the list so far, with Lewis Hall's product package from Chelsea.

However, with the possible introduction of a new forward set to challenge and support Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, things may change.

The Magpies have made an initial offer of £34 million ( €40 million ), according to Catalan publication El Nacional, as they attempt to capture Vitor Roque's signature from Barcelona.

The 19-year-old Argentine forward is likely to abandon Barca just 12 weeks after he first agreed a move from Athletico Paranaense, with St. James ' Park then a possible target.

Roque just joined up with Barcelona in January of this year, scoring his primary objective in a 1-0 get over Osasuna later that month.

But new supervisor Hansi Flick has apparently been left disappointed with the lad in pre-season, with the membership content to let him keep.

Lazio are expected to even present Roque a way out of Spain, as they look to increase attacking power following Ciro Immobile's move to Besiktas.

Although Newcastle have, at least for then, managed to hold onto both Isak and large forward Anthony Gordon, signing another perpetrator remains high on the priority list.

Eddie Howe's area have been linked with another fresh La Liga forward in recent days, with studies suggesting they are interested in bringing in Real Madrid's Arda Guler.
