A crucial player will leave Manchester City for a club-record price, according to reports.
One can see why Manchester City have n't looked to have done enough to sway the transfer business after winning their third successive Premier League title in May.
Savinho, a Portuguese winger from French side Troyes, who is a member of the City Football Group, is the only major signing the club has made thus far. Three people have left the club, but the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Sergio Gomez and Tommy Doyle were doubtful to have too much in Pep Guardiola's ideas this time.
This situation could change quickly however, amid reviews that one of Guardiola's important first-teamers may be heading to La Liga.
According to a number of shops, City and Atletico Madrid have agreed to pay an up to £81.5 million for the signing of winger Julian Alvarez, according to the BBC. The reported offer is said to be fair £64.4million first, with a more £17million in add-ons.
Individual words are also yet to be agreed, but if the offer goes by, it will see City institution a large income of more than 500 per cent of the £14million they paid River Plate for the forward back in 2022.
Since then, Alvarez has claimed a remarkable award pull for both club and country, winning the two Premier League names, the FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup with City, while adding the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina.
Despite these triumphs, he has apparently grown frustrated with his position at City, with more than 40 of his 103 looks for the team coming off the bench. In the Champions League and FA Cup playoffs of 2023, he was a substitute for the second-half of Manchester United's FA Cup final battle.
The 24-year-old has just been on Olympics work with Argentina, who were knocked out at the quarter-final level by France last week and had recently said he would make a decision on his coming after the Games.
City will then face a choice on whether or not they may seem to change Alvarez this summers, with Erling Haaland now the only out-and-out top scorer on their books. The £81.5million package for Alvarez would be a team record payment received by City, who would have raised £120million in the market this summer if and when the offer is completed.
