Gareth Southgate's late-eventuation will make it clear that Luke Shaw will commence for England against Spain in the Euro 2024 last on Sunday.
Following a lengthy downsizing with a hamstring injury that had left the left-back abandoned since February, the Manchester United player's inclusion in England's 26-man crew for the European Championships was viewed as a gamble.
Shaw did not take part in England's earliest four lights at Euro 2024, but suddenly made an appareance as a 78th-minute substitute in the quarter-final against Switzerland, playing the last minutes plus additional day as the Three Tigers won on penalties.
The 29-year-old subsequently replaced Kieran Tripper at half-time for the 2-1 get over the Netherlands in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.
A document in The Sun on Saturday had claimed that Southgate was set to name an unchanged XI for the final against Spain, meaning Tripper may keep his place in the line-up and Shaw would start on the bench in Berlin.
But now, The Telegraph state Shaw will be handed a starting place against Spain, with Trippier dropping to the bench.
Shaw has been described as one of Southgate's favorite players and the original Southampton defender offers more healthy balance on the left than Tripper, who is a right-back.
In the Euro 2020 last against Italy at Wembley, Shaw fired England into an earlier direct inside two minutes and played the whole match plus additional time as the Three Lions lost on sanctions. If he values in the 2024 last he will become the first Englishman to score in two worldwide championships.
The other major choice issue for Southgate was whether to launch Wednesday night's match-winner Ollie Watkins in attack after his soon strike against the Dutch, but the Aston Villa striker seems set to be on the bench as captain Harry Kane leads the line against Spain.
